BINGO
I was invented in 1818 by Captain George William Manby. When you use me, remember to PASS (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep). The earliest written record of me is found in Egyptian tombs, dating back over 4,000 years. I include information such as the properties of each chemical; the physical, health, and environmental health hazards; protective measures; and safety precautions for handling, storing, and transporting the chemical. The 1911 fire of the Asch building killing 146 workers prompted the guidelines for me. OSHA 1910.37(b)(6) requires that I must be illuminated to a surface value of at least five foot-candles by a reliable light source and be distinctive in color.I was first commercially available from Johnson & Johnson in 1888 as a response to frequent injuries on railroad workers far away from hospitals. I must include: Scissors, at least one blanket, tweezers, adhesive tape, and latex gloves.I was first invented in 1919. I must withstand an 8-pound ball dropped from 5 feet, and I'm designed to reduce the force of that impact using a suspension system.
Over 18,000 injuries every year are caused by people operating equipment without me. I should only be removed if the machine is locked out.I was first sold commercially by Red Wing in the 1930s after industries were financially liable for employees' safety. I must protect you from at least 75 lbs of force.I'm a manually or automatically operated failsafe used to cut off electric power independently of the regular operating controls. I must be continually operable, readily accessible, and initiated via 'a single human action'. I must be red and not allowed to be a flat switch or operated via graphic display. The first iteration of me was in the 19th century. I was a flame on a long wick. An ignition or the flame going out prompted miners to exit. Another version of me was a canary. Miners knew to evacuate when they stopped hearing chirping.I'm constructed to limit the internal temperature at my center to 325 degrees F when subjected to a 10-minute fire test. I must be marked in capital letters in "conspicuous" lettering.
I was invented by George Cayley in the early 19th century. I prevented an estimated 14,955 vehicle deaths in 2017.I'm required to be provided by employers and not to be used for any other purpose. I must be durable enough to prevent removal without the use of excessive force. My key must remain in my owner's possession and no one else. No exceptions.I became standard in laboratories in the 1980s. I contain absorbent materials, PPE, and neutralizing materials.I was inspired by equipment used by paratroopers in World War II. I was one of the first requirements made by OSHA after its establishment in 1971. I must be strong enough to tolerate at least twice the impact energy from a free fall of 6 feet. The earliest evidence of me can be found in the Spider Caves in Valencia, Spain. Here, you will find a painting of me that's been etched onto the Mesolithic rock for over 10,000 years. My side rails must extend at least 3 feet above a landing surface.
The earliest records of me are from the 15th century. I must be able to withstand a force of at least 200 pounds in any direction, be at least 42" tall, and be smooth-surfaced. I'm required for any platform 4 feet or higher above a lower floor or the ground.I must work for at least 1.5 hours in the event of a power failure, and I must turn on automatically. I should be installed in places like windowless rooms, stairs, aisles, and ramps. I should be tested monthly for at least 30 seconds. The first version of me as we know it today emerged in 1937, produced by Willson Products. I offer protection from UV radiation, infrared radiation, fumes and gasses, and debris.I must include the date, vehicle ID, and your signature. Failing to use me can result in a fine of $1,270/day.I became standard with LOTO procedures in 1989. I must be durable and must not deteriorate or become illegible. I must only be placed by an authorized individual.
Approximately 10,000 lives are saved every year because of me. I'm a small interior room or hallway on the lowest floor possible.I must be at least 40 feet away from a building, large enough to include all staff, and easily accessible.I was first used in the 1960s for railway workers. The highest class of me must be able to be seen from 1,280 feet away. I decrease cycling accidents by 47% per month.I must be clearly labeled, puncture-resistant, and prevent liquid leaks. When I'm ¾ of the way full, I need to be sealed with tape.I was introduced in 2003 by the United Nations. I provide information on the hazards of chemicals and how to handle them safely, using symbols and phrases.
